The serious stuff: |
I've been working in the bike industry since I left high school, either in bike shops or with wholesalers. You don't spend 20 years in the same industry unless you are passionate about it and I love talking bikes with my customers. We are a relaxed shop, but we know our stuff so the shop is never intimidating. I'll make sure you are getting the right advice regardless of whether you are just starting out, or having been riding as long as I have. We're proud to say that we have a large female customer base who choose to shop with us because of the atmosphere we have in the store. Stop in and say hi, test us out for yourself. |

The serious stuff: |
I've been racing since I was 10, and apart from a couple of years in my early 20s, I've been on the bike the whole time. The highlight of my career was winning the Elite Men's State Road Title in 2004. It was 160km of torture, but my training and hard work paid off. I've also been fortunate to take out State medals on the Track and in the Team's Time Trial for the Elite Men's category. I actually only really started in the bike industry in 2005, working as a casual. From there I realised what I was supposed to be doing with my life! :) I love fixing and servicing bikes. I love taking a roady covered in grit with bits not working and handing back a bike that quite possibly looks and rides better than when they first bought it. (Unless they bought it from us of course!) I am a perfectionist and understand how important it is to have a machine running at its best. I was approached last year to be one of the Team Mechanics for the UCI Budget Forklifts team in the Oceania races. If you've been to another shop and haven't been happy with the results of their workshop, come in and speak to me personally. I'd love to help. |

When I'm not in the shop I: |
working in my full time job in Insurance or at home working on the shop or Club admin stuff. |
The best part about my job is: |
hearing from customers that they love what we do, and seeing our brand in the media. And the pride that comes from knowing we are just 3 ordinary people with a dream giving it a go. |
The serious stuff: |
I'm not in the shop so much anymore - which I am sure the boys are happy about! Rather I'm doing the behind the scenes stuff and running the Club. My background is in sales and marketing in IT, but recently I've changed industries to work closer to home. I'm a uni drop out, but have recently completed my Adv. Dip in Business and am a subject off completing my Diploma of Management. I always new Scott and Kurt were good at what they did. Their passion runs in their blood. From a business point of view, I know that the bike industry was a bit behind others in terms of best practice. And so Dutton Cycles was born. My passion is the customer experience. We are good at what we do, we have great brands to offer, but at the end of the day, it's how our customer feels about us that determines whether we are getting it right. We're aiming for customers for life and we've been fortunate enough to pick up a few friends for life along the way too. |

I've grown up with a love of bicycles, riding BMX and MTB from a young age. I started racing road bikes at the age of 16. I've been lucky enough to have been part of the Queensland Academy of Sport program, and I’ve travelled around Australia racing. My best placing was 5th in the U23 National Road Champs, when I was just 19. I raced and lived in Italy for 2 seasons with the Bibanesi Team. I’m happy to help you out with any cycling questions you have – Just ask! |
